Hamish joins us as Principal Engineer

We are so pleased and excited to have Hamish join us as Principal Engineer! Hamish joined on March 4th and comes with a broad smile and wealth of experience gained in the Electrical Transmission industry. Degree educated at Canterbury, NZ and straight into Transpower where he held technical responsibility and provided operational advice for Transpower’s HVDC, FACTs and Reactive Power assets, including:

  • HVDC Classic Bipole (Pole 2 + Pole 3

  • STATCOMs (HAY, KIK, MDN, PEN)

  • SVCs (ALB, ISL)

  • Synchronous Condensers (HAY)

  • Reactive Power Controllers (ISL)

Hamish headed North after this, taking a position with a consultancy, through which he got involved in a multitude of HVDC projects in various phases of delivery across multiple different geographical regions. Key projects included:

  • Dogger Bank: Deputy Commissioning Manager, Site Software Responsible, Test Lead
  • North Sea Link: Deputy Commissioning Manager, Test Lead, Commissioning Manager
  • France-Italy Link: Factory Control Engineer
  • Yangju Back-to-Back: Specification Development
  • NorthConnect: Specification Development
  • Caithness-Moray-Shetland: Factory Control Engineer, Commissioning Engineer
