• Site Operations and Maintenance (Transpower New Zealand, including HVDC, STATCOM / SVC, Reactive Power Controllers, Synchronous Condensers)
• Grid Code Compliance (North Sea Link, Dogger Bank)
• Technical Specification development for HVDC interconnectors (NorthConnect, Yangju Back-to-Back)
• Tendering Evaluation
• Design, implementation and testing of Control and Protection Systems (Caithness-Moray-Shetland HVDC, North Sea Link, France-Italy Link, Dogger Bank)
• Commissioning on behalf of Suppliers and Receiving Customers (HVDC InterIsland Pole 3, Caithness-Moray-Shetland, North Sea Link, Dogger Bank)
• Supplier Remote Commissioning Support (Dogger Bank, Shetland)
• 24/7 Remote Operational Support (ElecLink)
• Upgrades and refurbishment (HVDC InterIsland Pole 3)
• Decommissioning (HVDC InterIsland Pole 1)

Whilst Hamish’s core competency focuses on Control and Protection systems in HVDC applications, his site experience and natural curiosity has expanded into supporting additional technical areas, including SCADA systems and network / communications systems.
