Neil is a knowledgeable and experienced leader and chartered engineer who has over 20 years experience at the heart of the UK energy industry at National Grid plc.
Neil has lead teams with heart and mind on major construction projects and operations teams who keep the lights on 24/7 and has a passion for combining the technical with people and culture, through regenerative ways of thinking and being.
Neil’s experience ranges from power system engineering to project delivery to corporate functions, as summarised below:
Project Director supporting National Gas stand up a Major Projects teams to initiate £10 billion Hydrogen and Carbon transportation infrastructure projects, with an immediate focus on Front End Engineering and Consenting.
Power system stability analysis at the ENCC NGESO
Senior Authorised Person, Commissioning Engineer and Operations Manager for HV substations & HV cables in the Bristol, Gloucester and South Wales area, UK.
Project development on substations to connect windfarm and nuclear customers, experienced in grid connections and connections processes.
Commissioning Panel Chair for National Grid Transmission projects.
Project Manager and Project Director on HV transmission investments such as £100m windfarm connection and Project Director for the £1bn Hinkley C connection.
Head of Assurance & Quality for NGET responsible for enterprise risk management and QMS.
What matters to Neil is how the energy transition happens just as much as achieving the targets we set.
In his spare time Neil can be found with the family at the coast, the woods or the workshop.
